Salem Distance Run

Founded by retired Roanoke College track coach Richard Browder with the first race kicking off in 1975, the oldest race in the valley returns for its 45th year to the town of Salem, Virginia, to challenge new and old runners alike on a path that runs through some of the most beautiful historic neighborhoods that reside in our small town. With the blue ridge mountains surrounding the town, our runners will enjoy the natural beauty that southwest Virginia has to offer. In 2019, Health Focus of Southwest Virginia has partnered with Salem Parks and Recreation to sponsor this annual race, with proceeds going towards academic scholarships for local youth in the community who are going into a health career-related field. This is a 5K run/walk and a 10K run
