Organizations with under 250 employees seeking hazardous chemicals in general industry training can take advantage of free training through a new Virginia Tech Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiative funded by the OSHA Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. OSHA's Hazard Communication standard applies to many persons working in general industry and light manufacturing, including persons working where bulk chemicals are used or where household-type products are used at a frequency greater than a normal consumer. This course prepares individuals to teach the two-hour Hazardous Chemicals in General Industry Awareness Course to their own audiences and employees. EHS offers flexible course options both onsite at Virginia Tech and at offsite locations across the region, including Roanoke. EHS trainers are also able to travel to organizations and companies and deliver the courses. The current course schedule and registration details can be found at https://www.ehss.vt.edu/training/HCGI.php.
