Job duties for?Tooling Manager / Machinist:
  • Perform daily hands-on repairs and maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical and PLC issues using machine prints
  • Support production with robot programming for part removal
  • Follow and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all machines and secondary equipment
  • Manage tool room operations, assigning tasks and prioritizing workload based on production needs
  • Oversee department schedules, procedures, and performance standards
  • Participate in hiring, training, and conducting performance reviews for tool techs
  • Maintain department budget and oversee requests for equipment and supplies
  • File, grind, and adjust parts for proper fit and operation
  • Inspect finished tools and dies for smoothness, accuracy, and defects
  • Set up and operate lathes, mills, and grinders to machine parts to specific dimensions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to plan fabrication sequences
  • Verify part dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools
  • Maintain tooling inventory and troubleshoot mold-related issues
  • Develop and manage mold maintenance work orders and tooling repair logs
  • Provide training and support for new hires and assist technicians as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and complete all required paperwork accurately
  • Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
  • Completes any other related tasks as needed
 
 
Qualifications and desired skills for?Tooling Manager / Machinist:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in tooling, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of mold design and thermoset molding processes
  • Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo
  • Skilled in full mold teardown, repair, and reassembly
  • Familiar with machining operations and toolroom equipment
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • Committed to continuous improvement in tooling and setup processes
  • Able to assist with mold maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift
  • Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs
  • Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
